• Know your stuff – Own what you’re talking about!

• Be intentional – Being an intentional person means that everything you do is done with a certain resolve.

But, just because you meant for something to happen, doesn’t mean it will always work the way you envisioned. In this case, sometimes we fail to reach our goals or expectations.

• The impression test – As I grew up I was always told that the first time you meet someone, it’s the first impression that means the most.

• Don’t be afraid to say, I don’t know – it gives others the opportunity to enlighten you.

• People are just people – we are all human so don’t feel intimidated.

• Be clear about what you want.

• Dress the part, dress to impress.

• Do your research – makes you feel like you know and understand at least some of what’s being spoken about.

• Make mistakes – when you make a mistake, you’re best off putting your hands up and being honest about it. That is the way we learn.

• Practice makes perfect

• Be yourself and don’t try and copy everyone else

• Smile – have you ever heard of the saying a smile is contagious? Well it most definitely is, and brings an extra positive vibe to any situation.

• Always have an open mind – you never know what you might learn.

• Ask questions – there is no better way of gaining more knowledge that asking questions.

• Shake hands if appropriate.
