Have you ever spent so much time trying to make your blog perfect that you forgot why you started blogging in the first place?

I think it’s very easy to do.

You start thinking about the perfect layout, the perfect photographs, the perfect blog post, the perfect schedule and the perfect plan for what your blog is going to become.

On My Radar: Books That Have Caught My Eye Recently

One of the best things about being part of the book community is discovering books you might never have found on your own. My wishlist seems to grow every week thanks to Bookstagram, fellow readers, and browsing Audible.

🎭 Fool Me Once (Netflix) – Addictive, Chaotic… and Why Does No One Ever Get Real Justice?

Right. I’m going to be honest with you.

I’ve now watched three of these Harlan Coben adaptations on Netflix, and while I am fully locked in every single time… I’m starting to notice a pattern.

They are addictive. Completely bingeable. Twist after twist after twist.

But do the right people ever truly get the justice they deserve?

Continue reading “🎭 Fool Me Once (Netflix) – Addictive, Chaotic… and Why Does No One Ever Get Real Justice?”

Okay. Deep breath. Because Stay Close was a ride.

If you’ve just finished watching Stay Close, you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say: I don’t think I blinked for the last two episodes.

Angel Falls Christmas: When the Universe Gently Pushes You Where You’re Meant to Be

Some Christmas films are all about big decorations and bigger drama.

Angel Falls Christmas is quieter than that — and somehow, it hits deeper.

This film leans into the idea of what if things happened for a reason, especially the things we didn’t plan for. It has that soft, magical energy that makes you believe the universe might actually be listening… even if it takes its time answering.

A Christmas Film That Feels Like a Warm Hug (and a Needed One)

Some Christmas films are loud. Some are glittery. Some try way too hard to be festive.

A Kindhearted Christmas isn’t any of those — and that’s exactly why it works.

✨ The Last Thing That Had Me Buzzing Like a Caffeinated Bumblebee ✨

Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

You know that feeling when something just lights you up like fairy lights at Christmas? Yeah, that was me recently. The last thing I got ridiculously, embarrassingly excited about was… drumroll… a package arriving. Yep. Not a holiday, not a lottery win, not even Ryan Reynolds turning up at my door (although, Ryan, if you’re reading this—don’t be shy). No, it was a box.

“Why I’m Basically Addicted to Writing (and Proud of It)”

What do you enjoy most about writing?

You know what I love most about writing? The fact that it’s the one place I can get away with talking to myself without people looking at me like I’ve finally lost the plot. On paper (or on screen), suddenly I’m not just a person muttering to myself—I’m an author. See the difference? Same chaos, just with prettier fonts.

The Word That’s Been Used More Than My Favourite Mug

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

Some words just… get around. They’re everywhere. Like glitter after a craft project—you can try to escape them, but nope, they’ll be in your hair, your shoes, and your nightmares.

Continue reading “The Word That’s Been Used More Than My Favourite Mug”

“If I Could Bring Back a Dino… You Bet It’s Gonna Be Extra”

If you could bring back one dinosaur, which one would it be?

Alright, here’s the deal. The world is full of important questions: What’s for dinner? Why does my sock vanish in the wash? Why is my phone listening to me talk about cheese and now I’m being targeted with ads for fondue sets?!

Continue reading ““If I Could Bring Back a Dino… You Bet It’s Gonna Be Extra””

My Not-So-Secret Wellness Sauce (With a Side of Sass)

What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

Let’s be real—maintaining health and well-being in this wild world takes more than just green juice and good intentions. I mean, I’ve tried yoga with a YouTube guru who spoke only in whispery riddles and once attempted a “cleanse” that nearly made me eat my own furniture. But through some trial, plenty of errors, and a lot of snacks, I’ve found my rhythm.

“My Future Travel Plans (A.K.A. Where I’ll Probably Overpack and Still Forget Toothpaste)”

What are your future travel plans?

Right. So let’s talk travel plans. The big ones. The little ones. The ones I daydream about while doing the dishes and suddenly forget whether I’ve rinsed the plates or shampooed the dog. (We don’t have to talk about that incident again.)

“If I Could Reboot Society Like a Glitchy iPhone…”

What would you change about modern society?

Right. Buckle in.

If someone handed me the big red button and said, “Go on, change something about modern society,” I wouldn’t even hesitate. CLICK. Immediate update. Reboot. Refresh. Starting with… the absolute obsession with hustle culture.

“What’s in My Ears While I Pretend to Be Productive

What do you listen to while you work?

Spoiler alert: It’s not whale noises. Although… never say never.

Right, let’s be real—when I say “work,” I could mean anything from writing something deeply profound (like a blog post about biscuits) to sorting out the chaos that is my inbox, or staring at a blank screen pretending to be productive while actually online shopping for a lamp I do not need. Whatever the task, one thing remains true: I need background noise. Silence? Nope. That just invites me to have deep thoughts I’m not emotionally prepared for.

“Pass the Cheese and Nobody Gets Hurt” – My Go-To Comfort Food Confession

What’s your go-to comfort food?

You know how some people go for a jog to clear their mind? Yeah, well… I go for cheese.

There’s something about the buttery, melty, creamy goodness that just gets me on a soul level. A bad day? Cheese. A good day? Also cheese. Existential crisis at 2am? You guessed it – cheese, probably melted on toast like it’s saving my life one crunchy bite at a time.

🎲 Game On! The One Game That Has My Heart (and Occasionally My Dignity) 🎮

What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

Alright, let’s talk games. Card games, board games, video games—whatever gets the competitive gremlin inside you grinning with glee. We’ve all got that one favourite. You know, the game you insist you’re “not that good at” and then suddenly transform into a ruthless champion of destruction the second someone hands you the dice. Yeah. That one.

Time? Never Heard of Her – The Things That Make Me Forget the Clock Exists

Which activities make you lose track of time?

You ever look up from what you’re doing and realise it’s suddenly dark outside, your tea’s gone cold, your phone’s on 2%, and you’ve somehow forgotten to blink for the last hour and a half? Yeah. That’s when you know time just packed its bags and left the chat.

💫 The Day I Accidentally Quit My Job (But Also Found My Backbone)

It started like any normal Tuesday—woke up late, made tea, forgot I’d run out of milk, drank it anyway. Bit dramatic, bit tragic. The usual.

I got to work, already flustered, only to find Karen from accounts had again left her weird tuna salad in the fridge like a crime scene no one wants to solve. The office smelled like betrayal.

📱“Mind Your Manners, Karen – I’ve Got Feelings Too!”📱

What bothers you and why?

(A blog post for the chronically polite and perpetually baffled)

Right, we need to talk. No, seriously – pull up a chair, grab a cuppa (tea or coffee, I’m inclusive like that), and let’s unpack one of my biggest daily gripes: rudeness. I’m talking about the kind of behaviour that makes you raise your eyebrows so high they practically move in with your hairline.

Security or Adventure? Why Not Both… with Snacks!

Are you seeking security or adventure?

Right, let’s get comfy and crack open this juicy little question like a bag of crisps you swore you weren’t going to eat but did anyway.

Are you seeking security or adventure?

Well, buckle up, because this question is basically asking:

🍴”Pass the Potatoes, Beyoncé!” — My Ultimate Dream Dinner Party

If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?

If I could host a dinner party and anyone I invited was guaranteed to turn up? Oh, the power. The drama. The potential awkward table conversations!

Honestly, I wouldn’t waste this opportunity on being modest. This is my fantasy dinner, and we’re going full glam, full weird, full chaos.

“From Duvet to Done: A Day in the Life of My Sleep Schedule”

What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

Let’s talk about sleep—or the chaotic ballet I like to call “The Great Bed Battle.” Because for me, getting up and going to bed isn’t just a routine… it’s an event. A saga. A full-blown production with dramatic sighs, sleepy negotiations, and at least three internal monologues that sound like a Shakespearean soliloquy.

Let’s start with mornings.

🛋️ “Operation: Maximum Comfort” – AKA How I Hack Daily Life Like a Cozy Genius

What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

Let’s face it—life can be a bit much sometimes. Early mornings, noisy neighbours, weather that can’t make up its mind. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to turn my day-to-day life into something that feels like a never-ending spa day—but, you know, without the cucumbers on my eyes (they kept sliding off).

✨What Am I Most Excited About for the Future? Living Life to the Full (And Then Some!)✨

What are you most excited about for the future?

Oh, where do I even start? The future is like a giant mystery box—except instead of socks or sad salad, I’m convinced mine’s packed with glitter, dance breaks, and at least one alpaca in a sombrero (don’t ask why—it just feels right).

Bye, Drama! What I’m Letting Go Of to Keep the Peace

What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony?

”What I’m Letting Go Of to Keep the Peace (and My Sanity)

Ever just know you’re right in an argument but decide to let it go anyway? Not because you’ve suddenly become Mother Teresa… but because you value peace, snacks, and uninterrupted telly more than proving a point? Yeah—that’s me now. I’m in my “I could, but I won’t” era.

🦜🌴 Brave, Bold… and Slightly Terrified in Mexico 🌴🦜

Describe your most memorable vacation.

The holiday that taught me courage comes with feathers (and a beak)

If you’ve ever doubted your inner bravery, I suggest booking a trip to Mexico and coming face-to-beak with a cockatiel. That’s exactly what I did—and let me tell you, I returned a changed woman.

Wait… I’m an Authority? The Things I Actually Know a Lot About

On what subject(s) are you an authority?

You know when someone asks you a question and your brain just stops working for a second? That was me when I read:

I blinked. I blinked again.

Authority? Me?

🌟 Saying “Thank You” Changed My Life (and It’s Not as Cringe as It Sounds

How do you express your gratitude?

You know that feeling when someone holds the door open for you, or remembers how you take your tea (milk first, obviously)? It’s such a small thing, but it sticks. It makes you feel seen, like, “Hey—I matter.”

The PE Teacher Who Taught Me More Than Sport

What makes a teacher great?

When people talk about great teachers, they often mention the ones who helped them pass a big exam or inspired them to chase a dream job. But for me, a truly great teacher is someone who adapts — someone who sees every student not as a challenge, but as a chance to do things differently.

The Day the Town Forgot the Sky

Chapter One: The Disappearance

It started as just another Tuesday in the quiet town of Elmbridge. The postman was late, Mrs. Hargrove watered her hanging petunias while gossiping with her neighbour about the new bakery girl, and the air smelled faintly of toast and rain.

☕ How I Practice Self-Care (Even When Life Is a Bit of a Mess)

How do you practice self-care?

Let’s be real for a sec—self-care isn’t always face masks and bubble baths. Sometimes, it’s dragging yourself out of bed when you really don’t want to. Other times, it’s saying no to people who don’t respect your time or your energy.

🌏✨ 2 Countries, 1 Epic Adventure: Why I Need to Visit Australia & New Zealand

What countries do you want to visit?

There are some places in the world that don’t just sit quietly on your travel list—they shout your name.

For me, it’s Australia and New Zealand .

Every time I see a photo or hear someone’s story, I feel that little spark in my chest. The kind of spark that says: You need to see this for yourself. So here it is—the list, the dream, the adventure I can’t stop thinking about.

“The Girl Who Wouldn’t Be Silenced: Why I Admire Joan of Arc”

Who is your favorite historical figure?

If I had to pick one historical figure who really stands out to me, it would be Joan of Arc. She wasn’t born a queen, a scholar, or a warrior—but somehow, she became all three in spirit. What I love most about her is that she didn’t wait for someone else to save her country. At just 17 years old, she stood up in a world ruled by men and kings and basically said, “I have a voice—and I’m going to use it.”

My Honest Review of Dear England at the Olivier Theatre – More Than Just a Play About Football

Alright, let me start by saying this: Dear England is not just a play about football. I know, on paper, it might sound like something only die-hard fans would enjoy. But honestly? It’s so much more than that. It’s about people. It’s about trying to fix what’s broken — in yourself, in a team, and even in a country that doesn’t always know how to move forward. And that’s exactly what makes this play so special.

A Delightful Afternoon with ENO’s ‘The Pirates of Penzance’

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending the English National Opera’s (ENO) production of The Pirates of Penzance at the London Coliseum. This operetta, crafted by the duo Gilbert and Sullivan, is known for its humor and catchy tunes. The ENO’s rendition, originally directed by Mike Leigh and now revived by Sarah Tipple, stays true to its roots while offering a vibrant performance.

“Behind the Mask: Why Faceless YouTube Channels Are Taking Over in 2024”

A great topic to explore right now is the rise of faceless YouTube channels, which is trending in a big way this September. The concept revolves around creators producing engaging content without ever showing their face, which allows for more privacy and creative freedom. The idea is growing rapidly with a 9,500% increase in interest on YouTube. This trend appeals to people who want to maintain anonymity, focus on storytelling or niche content (like gaming, tutorials, or animated videos), or simply avoid the pressures of on-screen performance.

Answers to Lilly’s Questions for Interview

What first got you into Music?

I’m Sam Castell-Ward, a singer songwriter and poet. I started writing poetry when I was in school and when I was a teenager; I got into music through listening to bands like Guns N’ Roses, The Sex Pistols and Nirvana.

Who inspired you to make music?

I started learning guitar when I was a teenager. When I started singing my own songs, I was influenced by artists like Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.
I was also influenced by a lot of poets who I’d seen perform at some of the same of the same gigs and open mics as myself, as well as poets that I’d heard on the radio or social media; such as Hollie McNish and Benjamin Zephaniah.

How would you describe the music you typically create?
I always found it hard to describe the style of music that I create. I found it hard to describe my sound. I used to think it was folk, cause I was influenced by people such as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie; but people thought it sounded more rock, more raw and I was told there was some punk in my sound.
I later on realised that to be the case when I listened more to my stuff and realised how punky it is and how raw it. It’s experimental and poetic
The style of poetry I’ve been doing recently, where I’ve been performing it to music made by musicians from Heart n Soul was compared to Anne Clark.

What is your creative process like?
I often suddenly think of things I could say in a poem or song. I write ideas down to go back to when I have inspiration more so. Sometimes I don’t know if what I’m writing will become a poem or a song; sometimes I do have a good idea, sometimes I don’t and I often just write about things.
If I think strongly about something, I sometimes think ‘I need to write about this’. If something’s on my mind, I’ve been thinking about it a lot and thinking I need to say something about it or do something about something or something needs to be done, I often feel I should write about it.
If I’m gonna write some music to it, if it’s a song, I’ll often write the words and create what music feels like it works with the words.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I’d most like to work with one of my favourite singer songwriters and performers, Tom Waits. I always liked his unusual style and thought we could create something that works well together.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

I’d really like to be a support act at one of Killing Joke’s shows. They’re one of my favourite bands and a big influence on me. It would be great to perform at one of their shows and hopefully other Killing Joke fans and Killing Joke themselves would appreciate and get my stuff and it would be great to have my audience there at the show.

Lilly’s Disability Cons

Don’t get me wrong in life you never ask to be born with a disability.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day formally known as Poppy Day is celebrated on the Eleventh of November and it is to celebrated to remember all the fallen soldiers  who lost their lives from the first World War.

 M

Remembrance day is celebrated in many countries honouring the soldiers who fought bravely and who sadly lost their lives but we remember it as the day the First World War ended on the eleventh hour so every year on this day at eleven o clock we hold a minute silence in remembrance to the fallen soldiers from that time

A special parade is held within London where a marching band plays wonderful songs and is finished with one of the Royal Family in the past it has been the Queen who has laid a wreath on the Cenopath in respect to the fallen soldiers

Remembrance Day will always be a day I’m proud to remember now

The soldiers we remember on this day both from the past and present will always part in my heart as I believe that the soldiers are the ones who on the front line fighting for us to keep living the way we do

So give yourself one minute after reading this blog post Do you remember the full one who helped make the country what it is today I will always get my poppy

Dealing with cerebral palsy Sally Ann’s story

Dear Cerebral Palsy,

I do not hate you. I do not regret you. In fact, I feel blessed to have been able to grow with you. To be quite honest, I did not feel any of this love and acceptance until recently. I’m sorry. You see, throughout most of my life I have had what felt like a hole in my heart. An emptiness that I assumed was due to me not fitting in among my peers or in society. In actuality, this emptiness was created by me. It wasn’t that I longed for acceptance from my peers or society, but I longed for it in myself.

I have Asperger’s Syndrome (a type of Autism), which is thought of as a learning difficulty or learning disability; it basically means my brain works differently to the brains of neurotypical people. Some people think someone having Asperger’s is a bad thing as we find some things (such as socialising and eye contact) difficult but I think we’re just different, as we often find some things easier than other people (such as maths and remembering things).

img_0022-1

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What is it you do?

I’m a composer who writes music for films, TV and my own records and concerts.

What is inspires you to keep doing what you doing?

For me there are big and small inspirations. A big one might be playing a concert, and being in the same room as people who are enjoying your music, or watching a TV show and knowing that millions of people are hearing your music at the same time, but I think the small daily inspirations are the ones that keep me going. I’m still fascinated with the magical nature of music, and how putting one note after another can have such a profound emotional effect on us. Every morning when I sit down to work there’s that excitement that by the end of the day, some music will exist which wasn’t in the world the day before.

Now I said to myself that I would write this blog post at the end of the project but I think it’ll be easier for me to write about my thoughts and feelings about the project as they come up.

Now I will be totally honest with you, all I know already is that I’ve been pushed to limits I never thought existed already and that’s just organisational wise trying to sort out dairy clashes. Because I’m one of those people who once something is booked in, I don’t like to let anyone down, so I’m juggling appointments and meetings around so I can fit in as much as I can. SoundLab Goes to Birmingham: A Busy Day of Music and Travel

It all started at 7.30 in the morning we were picked up by a cab that dropped us to Euston station – we were in the cab for 2 hours because we were in rush hour traffic. We got to the station later than expected and we missed our 9.23 train!
We got on the Virgin train to Birmingham, we were on the train for an hour and a half then we reach Birmingham New Street Station.
We made it to Birmingham now all we had to do was find where the event was taking place! After reading the place was only a short walk away we set off.
Our short walk – well my short wheel! We’d made it to the event. Continue reading “SoundLab Goes to Birmingham: A Busy Day of Music and Travel”

It’s literally just two buttons. That’s it! The only thing I’m yet to master is keeping it steady and getting a good flow – but that will come the more I use it. Continue reading “Go PRO Fun”
