What bothers you and why?

(A blog post for the chronically polite and perpetually baffled)

Right, we need to talk. No, seriously – pull up a chair, grab a cuppa (tea or coffee, I’m inclusive like that), and let’s unpack one of my biggest daily gripes: rudeness. I’m talking about the kind of behaviour that makes you raise your eyebrows so high they practically move in with your hairline.

You know the type:

The person who stares you dead in the eye as you hold the door open… and walks through like they’re royalty and you’re just the castle butler. The cashier who throws your receipt at you like it’s a grenade. Or worse – the random stranger who shoves past without a sorry, as if you’re just an inconvenient lamppost that grew legs.

I. Can’t. Cope. 😤

I genuinely don’t understand how we got here. Was there a global meeting I missed where everyone just agreed to stop saying “please” and “thank you”? Because if so, I’d like the minutes from that meeting… and I’d like to throw them dramatically in the bin.

💁‍♀️Why manners matter to me (and should to everyone)

Manners don’t cost a thing – they’re like free Wi-Fi for the soul.

I love them. Adore them, actually. Someone says “thank you” when I let them go first in the queue? My faith in humanity grows three sizes. A random stranger compliments my hair? I will think about that for seven years minimum.

You see, politeness is my personal love language. It tells me someone sees me, respects me, and hasn’t decided to behave like they were raised by wolves in a wind tunnel.

I know, I know – people are “busy.” People are “stressed.” But I’m disabled and somehow still manage to say “excuse me” instead of ramming someone with my shopping trolley. It’s not that hard, babes.

😇Be the kind of person you’d want in a queue behind you

What I’m really trying to say is this: if you’ve ever muttered “some people have no manners” under your breath while smiling politely through gritted teeth… you’re my people. Let’s form a polite army. Our weapons? Kindness, patience, and eye-rolls executed with grace.

Let’s be the reason someone’s day goes better. Let’s throw compliments like confetti, say thank you like it’s going out of style, and for the love of all things caffeinated – acknowledge the person who let you go first at the roundabout.

Because while rudeness gets under my skin like glitter in your sock, manners?

They make the world a little softer, a little brighter, and a lot more bearable.

Now excuse me while I go hold a door open unnecessarily long just to make a point.
