What is a word you feel that too many people use?
Some words just… get around. They’re everywhere. Like glitter after a craft project—you can try to escape them, but nope, they’ll be in your hair, your shoes, and your nightmares.
My personal offender? “Obsessed.”
Now, “obsessed” used to mean something intense. A crime documentary. A true passion. A celebrity crush you wouldn’t admit to outside your group chat. But these days? It’s being flung around like free mints at a restaurant:
“I’m obsessed with this sandwich.”
“I’m obsessed with your socks.”
“I’m obsessed with my new stapler.”
Really, Karen? You’re obsessed with office supplies? Blink twice if you need help.
It’s like every word in the dictionary went on strike and “obsessed” is doing all the heavy lifting. Don’t get me wrong—it’s cute sometimes. But we’re at the point where if my coffee says it’s “obsessed” with me, I’m filing a restraining order.
Now it’s your turn—what’s your overused word? The one you hear so much you could write it in your sleep? Drop it in the comments so we can give it a little holiday. Bonus points if it makes your left eye twitch every time you hear it.
