Since being involved in the People Skills project I have formed a clearer idea of what I want to with my life.

I have learned more about the various organizations that are out there doing the same thing or similar to what I want to achieve. I have learned about blogging and what other bloggers in similar situations to mine write about. I have learned that my various media talents – filmmaking, radio production and journalism – can all link together; they don’t have to be separate.

I have learned the importance of maintaining a blog in order to promote and write about the various issues that are important to me, whilst showcasing my media talents to prospective employers and collaborators. I have also learned that I can act on my own initiative and work as a stand-alone journalist aside from Heart n Soul.

I have made contact with Mark Three Media. I attended a meeting to discuss possible work experience – Mark Three works with other media companies such as BBC3 and Radio 1, making productions to promote disability issues.

I attended the meeting with Mark Three Media as an individual, not a representative of Heart n Soul, which was a new experience for me – promoting myself to possible employers.

I feel as though I am slowly developing myself and my skills as a creative journalist. Progress has come in the shape of knowledge about what I want to do in the future and what’s out there to help me.

I feel positive about the future and that I’m working towards something, and I’m the one who’s in control of what that is (whatever it is!).
