img_6518On  Thursday the 26th January I Binterviewed Jacqui, and oh my gosh it was amazing. I loved her, and hearing stories about her family and what life was like for her growing up.

For those of you who don’t know, Jacqui Beckford is the British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter that Heart n Soul have at most of there big events, so that the event can be fully accessible.
Out of all of Jacqui’s amazing stories there were two that stood out for me. The one where she was talking to her sister on the bus and she heard people call her and her sister dummies because she was talking to her deaf sister in sign language – Jacqui was listening and translating everything that people said back to her sister, but the thing I found most funny about this story was when they got off the bus and Jacqui made it clear to the people talking about them that she heard the whole thing lol. Now Iwasn’t there but I can only imagine the looks on their faces would have been quite a picture.
Another story I loved was when Jacqui and her sister used to share a bedroom and her sister used to say what she got up to at school that day. Her sister went to a school for the deaf, and the school used to take them away for weekend. There was one time Jacqui’s mum sent her with her sister and all of her sisters friends and they were all amazed by how much sign language Jacqui knew.

Now all that’s left for me to do is to you thank Jacqui Beckford for being a part of Heat n Soul’s #Big30Archive.
