Because Heart n Soul is 30 this year we are creating a massive #Big30Archive. The archive will live forever in the London Metropolitan Archives, so we went to visit them and what an interesting insight it was.

The staff spoke to all of us about the sort of collections they kept at the LMA and trust me they have so many of them.

When we went on the tour the ladies that worked there showed us an exhibition they have on up there at the moment that was all about cake – yes that was right up my street.

As part of this exhibition there was a wall of shops or bakeries and Greggs was on there. Karen and I were talking about the fact we miss real bakeries – they don’t have many of them around anymore which is quite sad.

I like the part when we saw where and how things are stored and I also liked where we learnt about how people retrieved a particular piece of history, I did find that part particularly interesting.

Did you know that nearly every local authority has their own archive?

So, a little bit of advice for everyone, you do need to have some sort of idea of what you are looking for before you go to know if you’re going to the right place, to find the right bit of information you need.

I’m still trying to get my head around that the Heart n Soul’s #Big30Archive is going to end up being at the LMA.

All that’s left for me to say is Heart n Soul are making history and it is something we should all be very proud of – go us!!!!
