Day three of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games was packed with intense competition and remarkable achievements across multiple sports.

In Para athletics, there were several standout performances. Notably, in the Men’s Shot Put F12, Elbek Sultonov from Uzbekistan clinched the gold, while Ukraine’s Volodymyr Ponomarenko and Roman Danyliuk took silver and bronze, respectively. In the Women’s Discus Throw F57, Algeria’s Nassima Saifi won gold,

setting a new Paralympic record. China’s Yuping Zhao shattered a world record in the Women’s Javelin Throw F13 to secure gold, while the Netherlands dominated the Women’s Long Jump T64, with Fleur Jong taking gold and Marlene Van Gansewinkel securing silver.

The wheelchair rugby tournament saw Team USA advance to the semifinals after a tense victory over Germany. Despite earlier struggles, the team, led by Chuck Aoki and Sarah Adam, pulled through in the final quarter. The U.S. will face the winner of Canada vs. Japan in the semifinals.

Wheelchair basketball was also a highlight, with the U.S. men defeating the Netherlands 60-34, showing strong defense and a standout performance from Jake Williams.

In Para taekwondo, a dramatic story unfolded with Senegal’s Idrissa Keita, who made a surprise debut. Despite being new to the sport, Keita defeated a seasoned Turkish opponent in his first match before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Great Britain’s Matt Bush.

Para archery and shooting also featured prominently, with Sareh Javanmardi of Iran aiming for her third consecutive Paralympic title in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1. Meanwhile, British archer Jodie Grinham made history as the first pregnant athlete to compete in the Paralympics, reaching the ST Women’s Individual Compound quarterfinals.
