What would you change about modern society?

Right. Buckle in.

If someone handed me the big red button and said, “Go on, change something about modern society,” I wouldn’t even hesitate. CLICK. Immediate update. Reboot. Refresh. Starting with… the absolute obsession with hustle culture.

You know the one — that modern madness where if you’re not juggling 4 side hustles, training for a marathon, making green smoothies at 5AM, and replying to emails faster than the speed of light, you’re apparently “lazy” or “not ambitious.” Darling, I’m ambitious. I just also really enjoy my duvet and a snack cupboard that doesn’t judge me.

Let’s normalise:

✅ Rest without guilt.

✅ Saying “no” without writing an essay.

✅ Not turning every hobby into a “passive income stream.”

✅ Wearing pyjamas until 2PM on a Sunday because you’re busy doing… absolutely nothing productive and loving it.

But wait, I’m not done.

Let’s also give society a quick polish when it comes to basic kindness. When did “please” and “thank you” become endangered species? People would rather wrestle a crocodile than say sorry when they bump into you in Tesco. Let’s bring back manners. Not just the napkin-on-your-lap type (though, sure), but the everyday “I see you, fellow human” type.

Oh and while I’ve got the floor, how about less comparison culture and more celebration culture? Instead of silently judging that girl online for buying herself balloons for her promotion, maybe we could say “YES QUEEN” and buy our own celebratory muffin while we’re at it.

Modern society also needs to stop pretending that working yourself to the brink of burnout is noble. It’s not. You’re not a machine. You’re a human. And humans need naps, carbs, and cuddles — not just deadlines and five-year plans.

I’d change the way we measure success. It’s not the size of your house or how many LinkedIn connections you’ve got. It’s whether you’re kind when no one’s watching. Whether you laugh so hard your belly hurts. Whether your life feels like yours — not some checklist you downloaded from the internet.

So yeah, if I could change something about modern society?

I’d press pause on the pressure.

I’d turn up the volume on kindness.

I’d delete the myth that busy equals better.

And I’d make being real the new gold standard.

Now tell me — if you could change one thing about society, what would it be?

Drop it in the comments — no judgment, just good vibes and maybe a biscuit or two.
