Apparently I learned absolutely nothing.
After finishing The Bridge Kingdom, I looked at The Traitor Queen and thought:
βSure, Lilly. Go ahead. Continue. What could possibly go wrong?β
Apparently⦠absolutely everything.
Please. Sit down. Communicate. Save my feelings.
I am begging.
There were so many moments where I forgot I was sitting in my own house because I felt so pulled into what was happening. I wasnβt listening to an audiobook anymore β I was just there, living inside all of the tension, stress, panic and emotional damage.
Which honestly feels a bit rude.
I kept thinking:
βOkay, weβre fine.β
Five minutes later:
βOh no. We are definitely not fine.β
The emotional whiplash in this book deserves its own warning label.
And the worst part?
I willingly kept listening.
I couldnβt stop.
The world keeps pulling you in, the tension never really lets up, and I needed to know what was going to happen next even though I had a feeling this book was preparing to emotionally attack me.
Would I like my feelings back?
Also absolutely.
There were moments where I wanted to shake people, moments where I wanted to scream at people, and moments where I just sat there staring into space questioning every life choice that brought me here.
But thatβs kind of the sign of a good book, isnβt it?
When youβre sitting there getting irrationally emotionally invested in fictional people.
Apparently getting emotionally attacked by a book is what it takes.
Tell me in the comments: what book completely destroyed your feelings and then expected you to carry on with your day like nothing happened?
