I finally finished The Bridge Kingdom series by Danielle L. Jensen, and I can safely say I’m dealing with a serious book hangover.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve listened to every book in the series, becoming completely invested in the characters, the politics, the romances, and the world Danielle L. Jensen created. While my ratings for the individual books haven’t changed, finishing the series gave me a whole new appreciation for the story as a whole.

Now that I’ve reached the end, here’s my personal ranking of the series.

5. The Twisted Throne

While I still enjoyed this book, it was my least favourite in the series.

The story continued to expand the world and develop the characters, but compared to some of the other books, it didn’t have quite the same emotional impact for me. That said, it still played an important role in the overall story and helped set up what came next.

4. The Bridge Kingdom

The book that started it all.

Lara and Aren immediately pulled me into the story, and the combination of political intrigue, betrayal, and romance kept me hooked from the beginning. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how much this first book set in motion.

3. The Traitor Queen

This book delivered a lot of the emotional payoff I was hoping for after finishing The Bridge Kingdom.

The stakes felt higher, the relationships were tested, and I found myself becoming even more attached to the characters. It was the point where I knew I was fully committed to seeing this series through to the end.

2. The Inadequate Heir

Keris and Zarrah completely stole the show.

Their story felt fresh while still fitting perfectly into the wider series. The character development, tension, banter, and emotional moments made this one incredibly difficult to put down.

For a long time, I was convinced Keris was my favourite character in the entire series.

1. The Endless War

My favourite book in the series.

Everything I’d been building towards finally came together here. The stakes were high, the emotions hit hard, and I found myself completely invested in the outcome for every character involved.

It was the book that kept me glued to my headphones and desperate to know what happened next.

Favourite Character

This is probably the hardest category to choose.

For most of the series, I would have immediately said Keris. His character growth throughout the books was incredible, and I loved following his journey.

But after finishing the entire series, I think James may have quietly taken the top spot.

Seeing the future that he and Ahnna built together, especially as they raised Oliver, added a whole new layer to my appreciation of his character. Sometimes it’s the quieter moments that leave the biggest impact.

Ask me again next week and I may give a different answer.

Final Thoughts

The Bridge Kingdom series gave me everything I look for in fantasy romance: political intrigue, memorable characters, emotional moments, strong relationships, and a world that kept me invested from beginning to end.

What surprised me most was how much my feelings about the series changed after finishing The Tempest Blade.

The epilogue gave me something I didn’t realise I needed: closure.

Seeing Lara and Aren’s family, Keris and Zarrah’s future, James and Ahnna raising Oliver, and all of the children together felt like the final piece of the puzzle. It wasn’t about a battle or a plot twist. It was about seeing what all of those sacrifices had achieved.

Without that epilogue, I think I would have been left with questions. Instead, I finished the series feeling satisfied and complete.

When I closed the final book, I wasn’t thinking about who won the wars or who sat on which throne. I was thinking about the families these characters built and the future they created together.

For me, that’s what made this series unforgettable.
