After thoroughly enjoying Spark of the Everflame, I couldn’t wait to continue the series, and Glow of the Everflame delivered exactly what I was hoping for: more mysteries, more questions, and even higher stakes.

This second instalment in The Kindred’s Curse Saga expands the world in a way that feels both exciting and immersive. The story builds naturally on the foundations laid in the first book, introducing new layers of intrigue while continuing to develop the relationships, secrets, and conflicts that kept me invested from the beginning.

What stood out to me most was the mystery. Every answer seemed to create three new questions, and just when I thought I had worked something out, the story would take another turn. I spent a large part of this book trying to piece everything together, and that’s exactly what made it so difficult to put down.

Penn Cole has a talent for keeping readers engaged without relying on constant action. The tension comes from the unanswered questions, shifting loyalties, hidden motives, and the feeling that there is always something important just beyond reach. That sense of anticipation kept me listening long after I had planned to stop.

The characters continue to grow throughout the story, and I enjoyed seeing their relationships develop as the stakes became increasingly complicated. The emotional moments felt earned, and the connections between characters added depth to a plot already packed with intrigue.

As an audiobook listener, I also want to give a special mention to Amanda Dolan’s narration. She does a wonderful job of bringing the story to life and making each chapter feel engaging. Her performance helped me become fully immersed in the world and made it incredibly easy to keep listening.

The reason this wasn’t quite a five-star read for me comes down to one thing: the ending.

Let’s just say I finished this book needing answers immediately. The final chapters left me with more questions than ever, and while that speaks volumes about how invested I had become in the story, it also left me feeling personally attacked by the cliffhanger. Penn Cole, respectfully, what was that ending?

Overall, Glow of the Everflame is a fantastic continuation of the series. It’s packed with mystery, intrigue, and enough twists to keep readers guessing from beginning to end. If you enjoy fantasy stories that slowly unravel their secrets while constantly keeping you on your toes, this is absolutely a series worth picking up.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

Would I like some answers after that ending? Also absolutely.
