There’s something bittersweet about finishing the final book in a series you’ve genuinely loved. You’re not just closing one story—you’re saying goodbye to a world and a group of characters that have become familiar along the way.

That’s exactly how I felt after finishing Hopeless by Elsie Silver.

From the very beginning, Beau and Bailey completely won me over. Their story had the perfect balance of heart, humour, romance and emotional moments, making it impossible not to become invested in their journey. I found myself wanting “just one more chapter” far more often than I’d planned.

The audiobook was equally fantastic. The narrators captured every emotion beautifully, making the chemistry between the characters feel completely natural. It was one of those audiobooks where the hours seemed to disappear without me noticing.

Although each book in the Chestnut Springs series follows a different couple, I’d always recommend reading them in order. Watching the Eaton family grow and seeing familiar faces return throughout the series makes the final book feel even more rewarding.

One of my favourite things about Elsie Silver’s writing is her ability to create characters that feel like real people. Every book has left me smiling, laughing and rooting for the couple, and Hopeless was no exception.

Most importantly, finishing this book means I’ve officially completed the entire Chestnut Springs series. It’s always sad reaching the end of a series you’ve loved, but I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better finale. Elsie Silver wrapped everything up beautifully, leaving me with that rare feeling of being completely satisfied while still wishing there was just one more book.

If you enjoy small-town romance, unforgettable characters, emotional love stories and fantastic audiobooks, I can’t recommend the Chestnut Springs series enough.
