There are some books you enjoy, and then there are the ones you simply can’t stop listening to. Reckless by Elsie Silver was definitely one of those books.

After loving the previous books in the Chestnut Springs series, I had high expectations going into Reckless. Thankfully, it didn’t just meet them—it exceeded them. From the very first chapter, I was completely invested, and before I knew it, I’d finished another five-star audiobook.

The biggest surprise for me was Theo. He’s funny, caring, confident without being arrogant, and effortlessly charming. His chemistry with Winter felt completely natural, and I loved watching their relationship grow throughout the story. By the time I reached the final chapter, I’d found myself with a brand-new favourite fictional cowboy.

As always, I listened to the audiobook, and the dual narration was excellent. Both narrators brought the characters to life, adding even more emotion to an already brilliant story. It was one of those audiobooks where I kept finding excuses to listen to “just one more chapter” until suddenly I’d reached the end.

If you enjoy small-town romance, swoon-worthy cowboys, brilliant banter, found family, and plenty of heart, I think you’ll have a fantastic time with Reckless. It perfectly balances humour, romance and emotional moments, making it an incredibly easy book to become invested in.

It’s also worth mentioning that this book includes references to pregnancy loss, which are handled with care and sensitivity throughout the story. If this is something you may find difficult to read about, I’d recommend checking the content warnings before starting.

Overall, Reckless was another easy five-star read for me. It had everything I look for in a romance: memorable characters, fantastic chemistry, emotional depth and a story that kept me smiling from beginning to end. Theo completely stole my heart, and this has become one of my favourite books in the Chestnut Springs series.

Absolutely. If you’re looking for a heartfelt cowboy romance with unforgettable characters, brilliant chemistry and an audiobook that’s difficult to pause, Reckless deserves a place on your TBR.
