After finishing House of Earth and Blood, I couldn’t wait to dive straight into the next book in the Crescent City series—and it did not disappoint.

House of Sky and Breath takes everything I loved about the first book and raises it to another level. The relationships become even deeper, the stakes feel higher, and the world continues to expand in ways that kept me completely invested from beginning to end

Bryce continues to be one of my favourite fantasy protagonists. Her strength, determination and vulnerability make her feel incrediblyreal, and I loved watching her journey continue. Hunt’s character also develops beautifully, and together they remain one of my favourite parts of the series.

One of the things I appreciated most was how every storyline felt important. The larger cast of characters each had their own moments to shine, and I found myself just as invested in their stories as I was in Bryce’s. Sarah J. Maas balances action, emotion, mystery and humour brilliantly, making it almost impossible to stop reading.

I listened to the audiobook once again, and the narration was outstanding. With so many characters and different perspectives, every voice felt distinct and full of personality. The emotional scenes hit even harder, and the narrator captured both the quieter moments and the high-stakes action perfectly.

The ending completely blew me away. It delivered one surprise after another and left me desperate to find out what happens next. It’s one of those cliffhangers that stays with you long after you’ve finished the final chapter.

Would I Recommend It?

Without hesitation. If you enjoyed House of Earth and Blood, this sequel is absolutely worth reading. Just make sure you’ve read the first book beforehand, as this story picks up directly where it left off. If you enjoy urban fantasy, found family, romance, unforgettable characters and shocking plot twists, I think you’ll love this one as much as I did.

I’m already looking forward to continuing the Crescent City series.
