Some series are entertaining. Some series are memorable. And then there are the rare series that make you feel like you’ve lived alongside the characters.
That was exactly my experience with Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.
As the final book in The Infernal Devices trilogy, this had a lot to live up to. I had already fallen in love with the world, become completely invested in the characters, and given Clockwork Prince five stars. Thankfully, Clockwork Princess delivered everything I wanted from a series finale and more.
The Characters Are What Make This Series Special
By the end of this trilogy, Will, Jem and Tessa felt like people I’d known for years.
Their friendships, loyalty and sacrifices are what made this series so unforgettable. Every victory mattered. Every setback hurt. Every emotional moment landed exactly as it should because I was so invested in their journey.
One of the things I loved most about this series is that it never felt like I had to choose between Will and Jem. They are very different characters, but both are written so well that I found myself caring deeply about each of them. If you’ve read the series and are hoping I’ll declare myself Team Will or Team Jem, I’m sorry to disappoint you.
I still refuse to choose.
A Fantastic Audiobook Experience
I listened to this series on audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The narrator captured the humour, emotion and heartbreak perfectly. More than once I found myself saying, “Just one more chapter,” only to realise I’d been listening for far longer than planned.
If you’re considering reading The Infernal Devices, I would happily recommend the audiobook version.
An Emotional Rollercoaster
Without giving away any spoilers, this book took me through every possible emotion.
There were moments that made me smile, moments that made me anxious, moments that completely shocked me, and moments that genuinely broke my heart.
What impressed me most was how beautifully everything came together by the end. So many storylines, relationships and character arcs received satisfying conclusions, making the ending feel earned rather than rushed.
My Final Thoughts
Clockwork Princess delivered everything I wanted from a series finale. It wrapped up the story beautifully, gave me all the emotions and left me completely satisfied with the ending.
While Clockwork Prince remains my favourite book of the trilogy, Clockwork Princess was an easy five-star read and a wonderful conclusion to a series I’ll never forget.
