āāāāā 5 Stars
Sometimes a book comes along that completely lives up to the hype, and Heartless by Elsie Silver was one of those books for me.
In fact, I started this audiobook at 5am and finished it before lunchtime. If thatās not a sign that a book has me hooked, I donāt know what is.
I went into Heartless expecting a fun cowboy romance. What I didnāt expect was to become completely obsessed with Cade Eaton.
Letās be honest, heās the reason this book earned five stars.
Cade starts out as the grumpy single dad who would rather keep everyone at armās length, but underneath that tough exterior is someone caring, protective, loyal, and impossible not to fall for. The moment he suggested that Willa could be the nanny was when he completely won me over, and from that point on, I was fully invested.
One of the things I loved most about this book was how naturally the relationship developed. This isnāt an instant-love romance. Instead, readers get to watch the connection grow over time, making every emotional moment feel earned. By the end of the book, I wasnāt just invested in the romanceāI was invested in the characters and the little family they were building together.
The audiobook was fantastic and made this story incredibly easy to binge. The narration brought the characters to life and kept me reaching for my headphones whenever I had a spare moment. Before I knew it, Iād listened to the entire book in a single morning.
Heartless also balances humour and emotion beautifully. There were plenty of moments that made me smile, but there was also enough heart to leave a lasting impression. Cadeās role as a father added another layer to the story and made me care even more about what happened to these characters.
The ending was exactly what I wanted it to be. By the time I reached the final chapters, my heart was completely invested, and the ending genuinely made my heart swell.
If you enjoy small-town romances, grumpy sunshine dynamics, single dad romances, and book boyfriends who slowly steal your heart, I canāt recommend this one enough.
Final Verdict
Heartless completely lived up to the hype for me. Cade Eaton is officially one of my favourite romance heroes, the audiobook was fantastic, and I can already see why so many readers love this series.
Now if youāll excuse me, Iāll be moving straight on to the next Chestnut Springs book and trying to recover from my latest fictional cowboy obsession.
