A short statement from Elizabeth Howard
only tried light writer I use phine on it and notes I have had lots of issues with battery running down. Mrs armitage sorted out so I could have one. It would depend on their disability.

Dear Cerebral Palsy,
I do not hate you. I do not regret you. In fact, I feel blessed to have been able to grow with you. To be quite honest, I did not feel any of this love and acceptance until recently. I’m sorry. You see, throughout most of my life I have had what felt like a hole in my heart. An emptiness that I assumed was due to me not fitting in among my peers or in society. In actuality, this emptiness was created by me. It wasn’t that I longed for acceptance from my peers or society, but I longed for it in myself.

Explain what your disability is?
I have suffered from epilepsy since I was 4&half years old. Along with epilepsy, I have a moderate learning disability and I am on the autistic spectrum.

Explain what your disability is?
I have Asperger’s Syndrome (a type of Autism), which is thought of as a learning difficulty or learning disability; it basically means my brain works differently to the brains of neurotypical people. Some people think someone having Asperger’s is a bad thing as we find some things (such as socialising and eye contact) difficult but I think we’re just different, as we often find some things easier than other people (such as maths and remembering things).
Good afternoon everybody and welcome back to my channel, I am back because I’m really really really excited because I think I had a breakthrough today and I want to tell you guys all about it

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Ben, I’m an Artist. I enjoy collaborating and working with others to make Art. I’m 36 years old, I also enjoy swimming,

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What is it you do?
I’m a composer who writes music for films, TV and my own records and concerts.
What is inspires you to keep doing what you doing?
For me there are big and small inspirations. A big one might be playing a concert, and being in the same room as people who are enjoying your music, or watching a TV show and knowing that millions of people are hearing your music at the same time, but I think the small daily inspirations are the ones that keep me going. I’m still fascinated with the magical nature of music, and how putting one note after another can have such a profound emotional effect on us. Every morning when I sit down to work there’s that excitement that by the end of the day, some music will exist which wasn’t in the world the day before.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
“I’m an artist, writer and part time superhero. I also have Tourettes Syndrome, which means I make movements and noises I can’t control called tics. I’ve got short curly hair and a very cool wheelchair.”

On Tuesday the 18th of July, as par tof the heart n soul takeover for the #Big30Archive project. Heart n Soul have been doing live internet shows.
When I first found out this was happening I was really excited. Continue reading “Summer vs Serious: Taking Over the #Big30Archive”
Well, we have finally kicked the big 30 birthday celebrations into action and what an amazing start it was!. The chat up was full of many inspirational people, it was a great celebration shared by all of the people involved with the big 30 and heart and soul. & What a celebration it was, Tilley and Del done a fantastic job at hosting as always, also mark and pino were being interviewed by Tilley. The event was brilliant, we even got BBC news coverage about the big 30.
Guy, unfortunately, the link the BBC IPlayer price is no longer available, so here are some of the images instead.
The #Big30Archive project was featured in the guardian today (11/07/2017) which personally I think is a big Continue reading “The Online Guardian: When the #Big30Archive Made the News”
I also got interviewed for The Big 30 as part of The Media Team with Shalim and Nicola. Don’t get me wrong the interview was fine, but it didn’t feel right to be one of the people being interviewed. I’m okay with being interviewed – I’m not saying I haven’t or won’t be interviewed again – but I now realise I prefer to be the interviewer! Continue reading “The Media Team Big 30 Interview “

Andeans Big 30 interview was so unique and interesting to be at, as I knew he is a busy guy but I didn’t quite realise how busy he gets.
Continue reading “An oral history interview with Aldean Blear”
This interview went by like a breeze, it was so easy. We asked for one or two questions and Lizzie spoke for the whole two hours – it was great she was so expressive and with everything she explained she elaborated with beautiful expressions.

Now I’ll be honest, it was the shortest oral history interview Cherry and myself have ever been in, however it was an interview nonetheless!

What can I tell you about The Fish Police – wow they are busy guys. They’ve been on tour all around the UK and overseas, they’ve performed in New York and Turkey.

Ok so by now you know I’ve been doing the #Big30Archive interviews for a while now and I’ve loved every single interviewee – I genuinely do – but there is something really special about Ricky and Jenny Continue reading “An interview with Ricky and Jenny “
Keith spoke a lot about the early days of Heart and Soul and about the various different manager job titles he had whilst he was working at Heart n Soul, from store manager to road manager and many more that he I can’t remember.

Now what can I tell you about Tilley and Del the Pig

Oh my we learnt so much about Dean that I didn’t know, Dean spoke a lot about the DRS (Dean Rodney Singers Continue reading “A Big 30 interview with Dean Rodney Junior “
On Thursday the 26th January I Binterviewed Jacqui, and oh my gosh it was amazing. I loved her, and hearing stories about her family and what life was like for her growing up.
For those of you who don’t know, Jacqui Beckford is the British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter that Heart n Soul have at most of there big events, so that the event can be fully accessible. Continue reading “An interview with Jacqui Beckford “
Because Heart n Soul is 30 this year we are creating a massive #Big30Archive. The archive will live forever in Continue reading “The London Metropolitan Archives”

I know right when you first hear or read the words ‘oral history training’ you think well this is going to be boring, but in my own opinion it was okay, the first session before Christmas and the last season were the best, but the one in the middle felt to me like parts of it was repeated.
On Tuesday the 24th of January i interviewed Lisa and Lolita, what an interesting chatty pair they are.
I think my favourite question of the interview was can you tell us about your Heart n Soul experience? – I think it’s because you never know quite what people are going to say, because everyone’s experience is different.
On Tuesday 17th of January I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the coolest bands around Too Hot For Candy
We would be in the middle of a question or they would be in the middle of their answer and they would stop and just start singing I loved it .
I need to tell you all that It goes Continue reading “An interview with Too Hot For Candy “
Well The heart n soul chatterbox team bring you another episode Continue reading “It’s Christmas: A Chatterbox Christmas Special”
So Tuesday was the first official #Big30Archive interview with Terry Crew, oh my gosh it was good. It was really interesting to listen to Terrys story and get his opinion on this through his perspective.

The SEN Music Development day conference was an action packed full day of performances workshops and opportunities to try new things! I interviewed a range of different people at the workshops and some workshop leaders I asked them a few questions to just hear what their experience at this event has been like. Continue reading “SEN Music Development Day: A Day of Music, Workshops and New Ideas”

Now I said to myself that I would write this blog post at the end of the project but I think it’ll be easier for me to write about my thoughts and feelings about the project as they come up.
Now I will be totally honest with you, all I know already is that I’ve been pushed to limits I never thought existed already and that’s just organisational wise trying to sort out dairy clashes. Because I’m one of those people who once something is booked in, I don’t like to let anyone down, so I’m juggling appointments and meetings around so I can fit in as much as I can. And we are still only in the planning meetings stage!

Chat up was so funny, can I just say Jess Thom and Liz Carr were hilarious and I’m so glad they had a sense of humour about disability because that is very hard to come across somedays.
Loop Berlin 2016
We arrived on the Thursday 3rd of November by the time we got to where we were staying after a mix up with taxis, there was just enough time for us to find something to eat before bed as we were all really tired.

This weekend I went to the Mozilla Festival 2016 as part of @ShapeArts Young Leaders Forum to help out Shape Arts and @WacArts to facilitate a workshop. In the workshop we wanted to concentrate on answering the question,

Today I went to the #nativemeetup to introduce ourselves to all the hacker ms that feel they are brave enough, to take on our challenge of designing a successful piece of equipment for @heartnsoulart to use,
So Ashley Dean Lizzie and myself went to to a talk to all of the music makers / developers to tell them a little bit about what heart n soul is? and what we do? I thank you all today for listening to us and to all
Now I just want to say a few thankyous to Native Instruments London, Continue reading “Native Instumnts Meet Up “
The EFDSS conference
The English Folk Dance And Song Society got in touch with the sound connections and asked if myself and sound connections would support them in the conference.
16 hours and no more
This is a blog I really wanted to do, mainly to answer a couple of questions that most disabled person that is tied up with the benefit system wants to know and that is…
This is a review that i wrote on behalf of shape arts.
Of all the events taking place, I choose to go and see “11 Million Reasons” however it wasn’t what I expected at all. I will admit it was really good to see disabled people’s interpretations of the iconic scenes from popular films that we would all recognise.

The Maritime Museum
We are here to bring disability to the front of the museum and show them in a positive light
After four days of work, here is what everyone in the team has come up With
Nelsons letter
When I first saw the letter that Nelson wrote using his left hand I didn’t like the way he described himself as being burden to his friends an country. But I do like the way Nelson overcame all his barriers an still mantained I high level of power in the end.
As part of the shape arts youth forum we were asked who was able to help represent shape arts and Wac Arts at the Liberty festival 2016 so myself and Jessica said we would help out, I was the first one there from shape so I didn’t quite know what to do at first but we spent the morning giving out leaflets and spreading the word about shape arts and youth forum.
Guys I don’t normally do this but I genuinely couldn’t of said it better myself guys even famous people face there challenges Continue reading “Even famous people face barriers “

Well, firstly let’s start with SoundLab Play Space – what a crazy day it was! From 12-8pm we were running on a very, very tight schedule. SoundLab Play Space took place at the Nesta building in London. It was a day where people could try out different equipment to make them realise how music-making can be put simply and made easy for everyone. Continue reading “SoundLab on tour”
A while ago I did a piece of work for Sound Connections talking about people’s journeys and how they got into music. I chose to do my video on Kali, there’s not very much more to say – I’m going to let the video talk for itself!
Honestly guys it was over so fast! What’s that saying everyone says, “blink and you’ll miss it”.
What happened when we got there…
– checked in to the hotel.
– went for dinner. Continue reading “Brussels in a Flash: A Fly-by Visit I Won’t Forget”
Today I went to Music Learning Revolution in London with Justin and Richard to do a talk about Heart n Soul’s SoundLab.
It went really well. OK, I’m not going to lie, I’ve done a fair few SoundLab talks now and it feels quite good!
SoundLab talks and events have taken place at Abby Road, other places in London, Birmingham and probably a few more places that have unfortunately slipped my mind!

Guys I don’t normally do this but please I found this video a while ago I found this really motervational video that everyone needs to see and share.
It all started at 7.30 in the morning we were picked up by a cab that dropped us to Euston station – we were in the cab for 2 hours because we were in rush hour traffic. We got to the station later than expected and we missed our 9.23 train!
We got on the Virgin train to Birmingham, we were on the train for an hour and a half then we reach Birmingham New Street Station.
We made it to Birmingham now all we had to do was find where the event was taking place! After reading the place was only a short walk away we set off.
Our short walk – well my short wheel! We’d made it to the event. Continue reading “SoundLab Goes to Birmingham: A Busy Day of Music and Travel”

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to the Roundhouse as part of a course with Shape Arts. We went there to do a workshop in radio production. We learnt how producers plan their shows and had the opportunity to pretend to put our own show. Me, Kerry and Mackinlay worked together, we called our show the ‘Third Wheel’ to turn it on it’s head as only 2 of us are in wheelchairs. I had a call from Mark to ask if I would do a talk with Justin and Ashley at Abbey Road about the SoundLab project. Check out my new video reviewing the UK and Finnish entries to Eurovison!
I’ve been learning how to use the tiniest, most professional camera that’s on the market right now. To be honest it’s quite easy. I wasn’t expecting it to be as easy as it was. It’s literally just two buttons. That’s it! The only thing I’m yet to master is keeping it steady and getting a good flow – but that will come the more I use it. Continue reading “Go PRO Fun”
